About Skip

Skip Beck received his PhD in 1983 from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro with a specialization in social psychology. In 1984 he accepted a position in Psychology at Appalachian State University and is still happily professing at that institution.

Skip’s research interests have been quite diverse. He has habituated protozoa, evaluated weapons systems for the military, and recently found John Watson’s famous participant, Little Albert. Issues involving the education of undergraduates have, however, remained the central and consistent theme of his research. Skip has published in such journals as the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Teaching of Psychology, Research in Higher Education, Journal of Higher Education, and American Psychologist.
